Executive Director: John Britton

John is a qualified teacher with a Bachelor’s Degree in Media and Cultural Studies.  Originally from the UK, he moved to Canada in 2005 and spent 4 years as Director of Client Services for a HIV/AIDS not-for-profit in Vancouver BC, where he discovered a natural passion for charity work.  He relocated to Nova Scotia  for a change of pace, and joined the MHC team in July 2010.

John is responsible for finances, HR and organizational development .

H2K Program Director: Jenna Bower

Jenna is a Registered Occupational Therapist who graduated from Dalhousie University in 2009. Following her passion for pediatric health, she took on the role of H2K Program Director in November 2009.

Jenna is responsible for organizing, planning, and implementing the H2K physical activity program for school-aged children. In her spare time she volunteers and enjoys skateboarding and snowboarding.

Research Assistant: Becky Spencer

Becky began volunteering with the H2K project in 2007 while completing her undergraduate degree in kinesiology, and has been employed with the Maritime Heart Center since 2008. She is responsible for data collection and analysis, research presentations and manuscript preparation, as well as assisting with program implementation. She is currently working on a Masters in Health Promotion (Dalhousie University) in conjunction with the H2K program.

Development Manager: Laura Clark

Laura is our newest member to the MHC team. She became involved as a volunteer last summer, and has now taken on full time employment in the start of 2012.  Laura has always had a interest in healthy living. She obtained a degree from Mount Allison (2002), with an emphasis in psychology, then went on to complete a degree in the study of Nutrition/Dietetics from Mount Saint Vincent University, (2007).

Laura has lots of experience in in the non-profit world, and is very excited to use the skills she has learned to promote the great work for which the Maritime Heart Center is known.
