Residency criteria

All applicants are encouraged to apply and will be considered by the Selection Committee. Interested applicants should demonstrate the following:

• A superior academic record
• Interest in and knowledge of cardiac surgery as demonstrated by electives and research projects relating to cardiac surgery
• Exceptional maturity and ability to relate well to patients, families and coworkers

Personal Letter

The formal application should include a personal letter. Please include any appropriate personal history as well as outline any past academic or non-academic accomplishments that may be relevant to your application. Please describe your reasons for choosing cardiac surgery as a career and your future goals.

Reference Letters

Three letters are required. These should preferably include letters from academic cardiac surgeons, university professors and elective supervisors who can comment on your interest and aptitude for cardiac surgery as well as on any exemplary personal skills or accomplishments.
