Heart transplantation
Heart failure is believed to affect 1% of the adult population and is associated with a poor survival despite aggressive medical therapy.
In many instances heart transplantation is the only possible treatment for patients suffering from advanced heart failure.
At the Maritime Heart Center we perform an average of 10 heart transplants per year and have performed greater than 180 transplants from 1988 to the present.
