The Minimally Invasive Valve Implantation (MIVI) Campaign is an exciting campaign that will make the cutting edge technology of Minimally Invasive Valve Implantation a reality in Nova Scotia now. This capital campaign is raising the funds that are necessary to have all the technology in place to perform these procedures and we anticipate that with your help our first transcatheter valves will be implanted this calendar year. This procedure allows patients to undergo valve replacement without the risks associated with open heart surgery. It is only available in a handful of cardiac centers in canada and will revolutinize how patients with heart disease are treated in the future. Our objective is to have $500,000.00 in place to train a multi-disciplinary team in advanced minimally-invasive valve implantation techniques and be able to provide this service in the Maritimes.
