Volunteer Coordinator:
Approximate Time Commitment: 3-4 hours per week
Description: Volunteers will be assigned to carry out tasks in one elementary school.
Volunteer Coordinator Type A: For volunteers assigned to schools WITHOUT peer mentoring component, tasks will include: 1) Working closely with H2K staff to carry out program components (i.e. . pedometer and website training, anthropomorphic data collection, PACER fitness testing, etc) 2) developing rapport with school staff and communicating with school staff. 3) Communicating with H2K Lunch volunteers to ensure volunteers will be attending specified events (i.e. pedometer and website training, anthropomorphic data collection, PACER fitness testing, etc). 4) Potentially attending teacher information session.
Volunteer Coordinator should attend the teacher information session for the school in which they are assigned too.
Volunteer Coordinator Type B: For volunteers assigned to schools WITH peer mentoring component, tasks will include all the above tasks along with: 1) Developing rapport with student mentors. 2) Familiarizing self with weekly activities for H2K Lunches. 3) Ensuring you have all the materials needed for activities for H2K Lunches. 4) Attending H2K weekly lunch sessions at the school and helping facilitate activities. 5) Helping set-up and clean-up activities for H2K Lunches. 6) Participating in activities when needed during H2K Lunches. 7) Encouraging and motivating students and supporting student mentors.
Volunteer coordinators should help implement teacher information sessions and peer mentoring workshop
