Heart Health Educational Sessions

Heart Health Educational Sessions:

Approximate Time Commitment: ~3-4 hours per session X 2 sessions required = 6-8 hours in one year

 

Description: One session includes: providing three consecutive 45 minute interactive educational presentations on heart anatomy and physiology, risk factor modification, smoking cessation, and nutrition to elementary school students in grades 4, 5 and 6. Administering short quizzes to students prior to and following the presentation (i.e. handing our quizzes and potentially reading out quiz questions). Potentially answering questions regarding four topic areas. One session take ~3-4 hours to complete.

 

Note: Volunteers MUST commit to AT LEAST two sessions (OR 6-8hours).

Power-point presentations and quizzes have already been designed..

 

Skills needed: Knowledge and training in the four topic areas; heart anatomy and physiology, risk factor modification, smoking cessation, and nutrition.
